It brings us joy to share our home with guests when we can’t be here ourselves. This home is all about making memories that last a lifetime — a place where friends, family, and the river come together.

Mississippi Riverfront Sunset House is nestled in the Driftless Region of Wisconsin, in Buffalo City. Nearby communities include Fountain City, Alma, Nelson, Trempealeau, La Crosse, Winona, and Wabasha/Kellogg.

The Mississippi Riverfront Sunset House is perfect for families, couples, groups, and outdoor adventurers. There’s something for everyone in every season — whether you’re here for boating, local attractions, fishing, hunting, snowmobiling or simply to relax under a glowing sunset.

We welcome you. 

The home features 2,016 sq. ft. of living space with three upstairs bedrooms, offering a comfortable and private place to relax and unwind. It sleeps up to 14 guests and includes a 2.5-stall garage entertainment space, perfect for spending time together.

 

Master suite: Features a king bed and a queen Murphy cabinet bed with a Dream Air mattress. Enjoy a private ensuite bathroom with a spa tub and zero-entry shower, and wake up to breathtaking views of the Mississippi River.

Bunk room: Includes a queen bed and a bunk bed with full-size mattresses on both the top and bottom, offering plenty of space and the same beautiful river view.

 

Bedroom 3: 1 queen bed — cozy and comfortable.


Bathrooms: a half bath with laundry on the main level, a full bathroom upstairs near the bedrooms with a walk-in shower, and a private master suite bathroom featuring both a shower and a spa tub for ultimate relaxation.


Living room: Whether you’re sipping coffee in the morning or a beverage in the evening watching the sunset, you’ll enjoy stunning river views from every seat. The sofa sleeper includes a queen size dream air mattress, perfect for additional sleeping space. 

Kitchen:

Our main-floor kitchen is fully equipped and designed to bring people together — whether you’re cooking, baking, or simply enjoying time around the table. The kitchen island seats four, and the dining table is perfect for meals, game nights, coloring, and making memories. A dedicated coffee and tea bar is ready to fuel your mornings and transition seamlessly into evening cocktails, with a built-in beverage refrigerator to keep drinks perfectly chilled. 

You’ll also find a cabinet stocked with games, cards, coloring pages, and cozy blankets to use outside by the fire. Beach towels are available as well, making it easy to head out for a day on the water or relax by the fire pit in comfort.

Gazebo & Fire Pit Area:
Step out through the sliding glass door just off the kitchen and into the gazebo — the perfect spot to gather and watch the sunset. This space features plenty of comfortable seating and a gas fire table, making it an ideal place to relax, unwind, and soak in the river views.

Right next to the gazebo, you’ll find a smokeless fire pit, complete with firewood and s’more-making sticks, ready for cozy evenings under the stars. It’s the perfect setting for laughter, stories, and sweet treats around the fire.

Garage entertainment space & outdoor games: This is the perfect place to relax, play, and make memories. Inside, enjoy shuffleboard, foosball, darts, or a movie on the smart TV. The sectional sofa and bar area create a fun gathering spot, and the table is perfect for games or meals together. Fire up the grill and enjoy a cookout, then head outside for cornhole, pickleball, volleyball, badminton, bikes and more. 


Access to the Mississippi: Just steps from the front door, you’ll find our private dock, perfect for boating, swimming, fishing, using our kayaks and paddleboard, watching wildlife, or simply soaking in the scenic river views. The nearest public boat landing (Upper Spring Lake Landing) for launching your watercraft is conveniently located less than two mile south.

Great River Road is one of America’s most scenic drives — a National Scenic Byway that follows the Mississippi River through charming small towns, rolling bluffs, and breathtaking river views. This iconic route has plenty of opportunities to stop at local orchards, wineries, breweries, antique shops, and riverfront parks along the way. Following the Mississippi River through 10 states — from northern Minnesota all the way down to the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana, 3,000 miles total. 

 

Fall is our second favorite season at the Mississippi River Sunset House, just minutes from the stunning Great River Road. The bluffs burst into brilliant fall colors, the air turns crisp, and cozy evenings by the fire feel extra special as the sunsets light up the river.

Shopping: Just a short drive from the Mississippi River Sunset House, you’ll find a string of charming small towns perfect for a day of shopping, exploring, and soaking up local flavor. Stroll through Alma with its historic main street and cozy boutiques, pop into Stockholm for artisan finds and sweet treats, or wander Pepin, where small-town charm meets river views and local wine. Hop across the river to Wabasha or Lake City for antiques, cute shops, and cafés. Even Winona, with its artsy downtown and historic architecture, is just a scenic drive away. Each town has its own unique personality — perfect for local treasures and making memories along the way.

The Mississippi River Sunset House is surrounded by beautiful snowmobile and ATV trails that weave through the bluffs, woods, and open countryside. Whether you’re looking for a leisurely ride with river views or a full-day adventure, there are miles of groomed trails nearby to explore.

Hop on local routes that connect to Buffalo County’s extensive snowmobile trail system, or cross the river into Minnesota for even more scenic riding. The trails offer something for everyone — from wide, easy stretches to winding wooded paths. ATV and UTV riders can enjoy the Buffalo River State Trail and other designated county routes, making it easy to spend the day exploring and end the night cozied up by the fire.
